As promising as FaceOnLive may be, it doesn’t always deliver. The interface can be distracting and overwhelming, and the overall user experience feels a bit “too much”.

Still, it’s a relatively reliable reverse face search tool for iOS, Android, and other platform users, but is there something better out there? Yes, there is.

Things you need to know about FaceOnLive

The tool isn’t perfect by any means: users can’t access the source links, perform in-depth scans, or get customer support. Additionally, in the free version, many results are repeated just to make the numbers up.

Another downside is that at least a quarter of the results (if not more) are blurred beyond recognition, making it hard to tell if there’s a real match.

On the plus side, FaceOnLive offers 3 paid options that unlock more advanced features:

• $4 – 1 search.
• $7.20 – 2 searches.
• $10 – 3 searches.

These prices make it a practical option for short-term use or quick, detailed searches. The engine also includes an opt-out feature, allowing you to delete your photos so they won’t appear in other users’ searches.

However, if FaceOnLive doesn’t quite do it for you, don’t worry—I’ve tested other tools myself to help you find your new go-to reverse face search engine, with a simpler interface and even better results.

1. ProFaceFinder – Affordable, Accurate, and Practical

In contrast to FaceOnLive, ProFaceFinder offers just two pricing plans, and both are more affordable.

You get 2 in-depth searches for $5, or 7 searches for $10—4 additional scans for the same price. The results show up fast, bringing only the most accurate matches, along with source links. 

The platform’s interface? Simple, unique, and clearly designed with the user in mind. You’ll even find quick explanations about how reverse image searching works, what the tool is meant for, and how to use it effectively.

No ads, no overloaded images, no distracting text movement. Just a calm, focused space to run your search. Great for personal use or small projects.

Unlike FaceOnLive, which mainly searches social media and websites, ProFaceFinder also scans dating platforms—helping bust catfishes.

2. PimEyes – Many And Super Accurate Results

PimEyes lets you run up to 10 free searches/day. Like FaceOnLive, the free version doesn’t give you access to source links. However, PimEyes doesn’t blur the images, so even without the links, you can still view all the results clearly.

The site’s super simple to use thanks to its clean design, and when you upload, it suggests picking five photos at once. I tested FaceOnLive and PimEyes with the same picture, with the free version. Here’s how they differed:

FaceOnLive – I got over 50 results, but only 14 were actually accurate, and most of those were just the exact same photo I uploaded. Only one was a legit variation. The rest? Mostly lookalikes and repeated results.

PimEyes – Gave me 53 spot-on results. Even group photos were smartly cropped to show just the person I searched for. It blurred out other faces and hid names or details in the background, keeping the focus where it should be. 

It even detected photos in which they looked super different (younger, different makeup and hairstyle), and another where they were wearing a mask—only the eyes were showing, but it still nailed it.

On PimEyes, you can get access to sources for 1 time by paying $15, or you can choose to make a monthly subscription, starting from $30.

3. Lenso.ai – Great Attention to Details

Lenso.ai is a solid tool for face recognition that gives you 10 free searches per day. If you need more or want deeper results, subscriptions start at $15/month, with both monthly and yearly plans (unlike FaceOnLive).

During testing, Lenso.ai impressed me with its range: solo photos, group shots, seminar snaps, podcast frames—even the cover of a book the person I searched had written showed up since their photo was attached.

Some results showed just a partial side profile, where nearly the entire face was covered, but they still nailed the match.

All but one result were accurate. I also got access to the ‘related’ and ‘duplicated’ tab sources, but not on ‘all’ or ‘people’ sections. 

4. FaceCheck.ID – Reliable Even With The Free Version

FaceOnLive didn’t just say they’d surpass PimEyes—they went all in, claiming they’d deliver better results than FaceCheck.ID, too. Bold move, right? Anyways, let’s check out FaceCheck.ID.

No denying, FaceCheck.ID didn’t give a lot of results when I searched random people. Once I got 45 results in total, 23 of them were correct, whereas others were just lookalikes.

I got results from different articles, social media, news, and websites. 

However, if the person you’re searching has photos posted publicly, you will definitely find exact matches—and that’s with the free version.

You can also get a subscription for $19, which lasts 2 weeks, or you can choose other plans for longer periods of time. 

After paying, the chances of finding more results grow since you’ll get thorough searches and sources become available.

5. Google Images – Free And Very Informative

Okay, Google isn’t exactly built for deep face-searching investigations like the other tools, but for something that’s not a dedicated reverse face search engine, it does the job.

When I tested it, I got 9 results, all spot on. You can browse exact or similar matches, and once you click on a photo, it opens up a whole bunch of new results. 

Bonus: You can save up to 50 images without downloading anything. No glitching, no filled storage.

It pulls matches from all over the web: news, public social media, websites—you name it. And guess what? It even gave me info about the picture, like when it was taken. 

Plus, there’s a tab for “Products”. Imagine you liked one of the Met Gala looks, but don’t know where it is from? This tab finds it for you, and most of the time, products are directly linked to shopping sites. 

Which alternative do YOU need?

Each tool has its specialty. 

ProFaceFinder → works best for catching catfishes, checking misuse of personal photos, and detecting AI-generated photos.

PimEyes → provides plenty of results in number and accuracy, helping you gather matches from different sources.

Lenso.ai → finds exact and similar matches even when uploading a cropped or half-face covered photo. 

FaceCheck.ID → informs you best whether the person you’ve uploaded photos of is a catfish or a criminal by searching through many sites that contain similar information.

Google Images → performs great casual searches, and provides you with extra information about the photo, person, and their outfit.
